MacBook repair in Lake Zurich
Bring your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro to our Lake Zurich store, Monday through Saturday, without an appointment. We tell you what's wrong and what it costs before any work starts.
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro problems we take in
- Cracked, flickering or dark screens
- Batteries that drain fast or have swollen
- Sticky or unresponsive keys
- Trackpads that stop clicking
- MacBooks that won't turn on
- MacBooks that won't charge
- Startup errors and stuck macOS updates
What happens when you bring it in
Rather start from home? Request a repair online, describe the problem, and we reply by text or email with a quote.
- Come in with the MacBook and its charger while we're open.
- Tell us what it does, or what it stopped doing, and when that began.
- We find the real fault first. A diagnosis and a quote back the same business day.
- There is a diagnostic fee, and it goes toward the repair.
- Nothing is repaired until you tell us to go ahead.
MacBook won't turn on or won't charge
A black screen, an unlit keyboard, no reaction to the charger. Try a different wall outlet first. Still nothing? Bring the MacBook with its charger: the charger, the charging port, the battery or the board inside can each cause this, and we pin down which one before you get a quote.
Screen, battery and keyboard problems
Screen: a crack, lines across the picture, flicker, or a display that goes black while the MacBook keeps running.
Battery: a charge that lasts a fraction of what it used to, or sudden shutdowns with battery still showing. A swollen battery pushing up the trackpad or the bottom case is a safety issue: stop using the MacBook, keep it off the charger and bring it over.
Keyboard and trackpad: keys that stick, double up letters or go dead, or a trackpad that no longer clicks. Mention whether a drink ever went near them.
If you spilled something on it
Shut it down and pull the charger right away. Don't switch it back on or charge it to test it. Get it to us quickly and say what was spilled and when. We check it before we quote, and we can't promise that a MacBook that got wet can be saved.
Back up first, and what happens to your files
If the MacBook still starts, copy anything you can't lose to an external drive or iCloud before the visit, so your files don't depend on the repair.
If it won't start and the files matter more than the MacBook, say so at the counter before any work starts. How we recover files from failed drives is on data recovery and backup.
When a MacBook repair isn't worth it
On an older MacBook, the quote is the moment to decide: weigh it against the price of a replacement and how many more years you want from this one. If you replace it, keep the old one until your files have moved over.
Windows laptops and desktops are covered on laptop and desktop repair; iPhones and iPads on iPhone and iPad repair.
